arrived to the US in 2001 from Israel, fell in love with yoga and shortly found him self in the arms of Dana & Jasmine at laughing lotus where he took his teaching certificate. Ariel teaches everywhere, really!! Go Yoga, Laughing Lotus, Reebok Sports club, Kula Yoga just to name a few. He is a shiatsu practice (Ohashiatsu) & a passion for dance (Gabrielle Roth) makes his classes move in a creative flow from the core. For me yoga is a practice of awareness, aligning the attention and intention with the marriage of breath & movement to find that lyrical place of effortlessness and grace, here, now, webbed in the world we live in.
Ariel will be teaching a level 2-3 class once a month, keep watching the schedule.
I am blessed to have such good friends that they will come all the way up here to give us all a little yoga love.

October 2007

yoga practice began in 2002 while he was living on Maui. A friend introduced him to a vinyasa class that complemented his growing surfing addiction. A year later, he moved to San Francisco and continued his development in the Ashtanga tradition. In early 2005, Adam set an intention to leave his profession as an accountant to create space for more meaningful pursuits. He began to explore various styles of yoga and bodywork, and connected deeply with San Francisco's yoga community. During that time, Adam was also introduced to the AcroYoga community, and so began his addiction to yoga. In his own words, “Acroyoga has empowered me to radically redefine my practice in a way that opens my heart in a truly playful and organic way. I wish to help others connect with the love, compassion and peace that exists within all of us... and extend deep gratitude to all those who have helped me.” As of 2007, Adam is making his home in NYC where he will continue to share his practice and to build community. His practice is inspired by Janet Stone, Dharma Mittra, Angela Farmer, Sianna Sherman and Sri Goenka. Adam is currently diving deeper into the Anusara tradition of yoga, and also exploring dance as a complementary form of expression.

November 2007

I have been a yoga practitioner for ten years and a teacher of kundalini yoga, vinyasa yoga, and pilates for seven years. It was the kundalini yoga that inspired my spiritual life and my decision to become a teacher. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to teach here at The Ladybird Center. I would like to offer thanks to Hari Kaur, Dana Flynn, Dharma Mittra, and Gurmukh, for showing me just how great a teacher can be.
Nancy Is a truly wonderful teacher who is coming to us here at The Ladybird Center (yippee!!) to help us out with a little detoxification after our Thanks Giving splurge.

December 2007

Listening to your heart, finding out who you are, is not simple. It takes time for the chatter to die down. In the silence of “not doing,” we begin to learn to feel what’s inside. If we listen and hear what is being offered, then anything in life can be our guide. For me, yoga became this guide. I have been an athlete my entire life, from a gymnast, to an avid basketball player, and was runner for over a decade. I began exploring the yoga practice at a gym, where I originally saw yoga as a compliment to the other training that I did. Over time, I began to realize that the practice physically challenges its students in a way that no other form of physical exercise can. At the same time, the practice has its own subconscious way of stilling the mind, which left me with a sense of groundedness that other physical activity did not offer me. I became so intrigued by the juxtaposition of working with the physical body through the asana practice and the requirement to slow down, to listen, and to observe the mind. I enjoy bridging this gap between the physical and mental aspects of yoga, creating a meditation through movement that I love to share with my students. I love to bring a funky mix of music to my classroom where the students continuously challenge the limits of their asana practice, but are allowed to comfortably explore the subtle body nuances of the yoga practice as well. I have an immense amount of respect for and dedication to my students. I have been practicing yoga for the past seven years and taken intensive retreats to Costa Rica for the past five years under the direction of Schuyler Grant, director of Kula Yoga Project. I am a graduate of Columbia University with a degree in Economics. I completed my 200 hour training at Laughing Lotus under the guidance of Dana Flynn and Jasmine Tarkeshi. I currently teach at Kula Yoga Project, Park Slope Yoga Center, Life in Motion, and the Reebok Sports Club.
Nikki is one of my regular teachers from Kula Yoga Project.
